Eugene is the current Kenyan Cabinet Secretary of Water and Irrigation, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in accomplishing his work and in pushing Kenya’s agenda towards attaining its vision 2030.

Before being appointed to this position, he served Kenyans as a minister for Justice and a member of parliament for Saboti Constituency.

He is a lawyer by profession, who joined the University of Nairobi after accomplishing his secondary education to undertake a bachelor’s degree in Law.

He later joined the Kenya School of Law and obtained a diploma in Law.  After that, he was admitted to the bar in the year 1995, and thereon joined the private legal practice.

One of the primary attainments in his career was representing the current Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni in a presidential election petition in the year 2001 against the opposition leader, Kizaa Besigye.  He won in this case!

Eugene was born in the year 1969 in Saboti. After his Primary school education, he went to Gendia High School in Homa Bay- Kenya, where he attained his A levels. On completion of his secondary education, he joined the University of Nairobi, to undertake a bachelor’s degree in Law, and later a diploma in Law at the Kenya School of Law.

Therefore, he is one of the most respected lawyers in Kenya who has even represented the Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni and won his case against the Kizza Besigye.

He is also a politician, whose first ran against Davies Wafula Nakitare and lost, during a by-election of 2003, after his brother’s death.  Later in 2007, he ran again under the PNU umbrella that was led by retired President Kibaki and won.

In 2013, he showed interests for the top seat, the Presidency, but later decided to support Musalia Mudavadi who is the AMANI Coalition leader.

In 2015, he was nominated by President Kenyatta to the position of a CS for Water and Irrigation, a place he held till January 2018 when he was moved to the Devolution ministry.

Eugene enjoys his marriage with his wife, Lucy Musudi, with whom they have been blessed with three children. His family believes in peace and unity, something that encourages and inspires him to serve Kenyans even better. He is a brother to Kijana Wamalwa, the vice president who died in office.

Kijana Wamalwa – Who was he?

Kijana was on of Kenya’s greatest leaders, who have ever lived. He was a politician, who believed in truth, honesty and justice for all human beings.

He was the vice-president and at the same time the Member of Parliament for Saboti Constituency when he died in 2003.

The exact cause of his death is still unknown, but, he began to be seriously ill in the year 2002 when he went to visit Kibaki, who was admitted in London after a fatal road accident.

After he returned home and married Yvonne, he went for checkups at Royal Free Hospital, but never returned; he died on 23rd August 2003. Some people believe he died of HIV/AIDS, while others think it was gout, pancreatitis or chest infection.
